13-year-old arrested in domestic battery

A 13-year-old Hempstead County boy was arrested Saturday after allegedly attacking his 9-year-old brother.

Hempstead County deputies and the Arkansas State Police responded to a domestic battery call on Clingon Country Road near Nashville around 4:22 p.m. Saturday. A mother reported that her 13-year-old son had hit his 9-year-old brother in the face with a plastic toy after getting mad at him. She said the older boy then turned over the refrigerator, almost hitting his younger sister.

The woman called police after the boy went outside the house, picked up a knife and started beating on the door.

The boy was taken into custody without incident by Trooper Hale.

Deputies recovered the knife and transported the boy to the Juvenile Detention Center in Texarkana pending a hearing in Juvenile Court.
