HCSO investigating sexual assault

HOPE – Deputies with the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office are investigating reports of a sexual assault.

According to a release from the HCSO, a deputy was sent to Hwy. 29 S. in reference to a sexual assault shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday. The deputy met with the mother of a 15-year-old girl who said while she was watching video surveillance footage of her home’s exterior, she saw her daughter go outside around 1:30 a.m. When questioned about this, the girl reportedly said she’d left the house to meet a man she’d met on Facebook and the two went to a cemetery where they had sex and he brought her back home.

Investigation showed the male involved is 19-years-old. The investigation has been turned over to the HCSO’s  sex crime investigator Heath Ross.
