Intense Storms Likely Across Southwest Arkansas Sunday

By Staff, 04/2/17 8:15 AM

Intense storms are a likelihood today, Sunday, April 2nd, across the entire Southwest Arkansas area.

A combination of a deep-cutting jet steam, a low pressure area and a warm front moving to the north could bring us large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes, some long-lasting. Flooding rains could also be a threat.

To our southwest, Texas has already seen several tornado warnings since early morning, and also has an active Tornado Watch in place. More watches and warnings are to be expected, moving our way, as the day progresses.

To maintain optimum safety, stay weather aware. Check your local television channel or weather app on your phone and pay attention to any Code Red message you may receive. If our area is put under a Tornado Watch, your attention should be heightened. A Tornado Warning means that a tornado is imminent. Above all, have a plan.
