Improvements to Interstate 30 Require Lane Shift in Miller County

By Donna Potter, 07/13/17 9:11 AM

MILLER COUNTY – Construction work on the I-30 Red River Bridge in Miller County requires a lane shift, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews will move eastbound traffic onto the newly constructed bridge. Weather permitting; this shift will occur in the afternoon on Friday, July 14. Westbound traffic will continue to travel on the existing bridge while work is completed on the westbound approaches to the new bridge. Motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes as major traffic delays are expected during this time.

Work began on the $37 million dollar project to replace the existing Red River Bridge and approaches between mile markers 16 in Miller County and 19 in Hempstead County in August 2015. The existing Red River Bridge was constructed in 1967 and is being replaced to include shoulders and to meet current design standards. The project is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ArkansasHighways.com. You can also follow us on Twitter @AHTD.image
