FAIR PARADE 002PRESCOTT – Tuesday evening saw East Second Street South lined with people for the annual Nevada County Fair parade.

The audience wasn’t disappointed as this year’s parade turned out to be the largest one in years, lasting the better part of 20 minutes, as there were more floats than usual. The 2016 State Champion Curley Wolf football team was honored by being named as the parade’s Grand Marshal. With 36 young ladies entered in the various divisions of the fair queen pageant, came a flotilla of gaily decorated vehicles, and plenty of candy being tossed to the spectators.

With Union Pacific no longer holding trains for parades, the route was somewhat shorter than normal, as it began at Central Baptist Church and ended at the Prescott City Park. However, there were no complaints, as people enjoyed the spectacle.

There were also plenty of winners in the float contest. For the community division, the Willisville Clovers took the top spot with the Leo Club taking second. Bright Beginnings was the winner in the youth class, with the Nevada County Fair Queens second. For cars, Essence Thomas was first, with Kylee Henderson second and Brylee Rooney third. First Baptist Church won the mini-float category.
