CITY XMAS PARTY 025

PRESCOTT – It was party time for employees of the City of Prescott Friday, as they celebrated with the annual Christmas party.

The highlight of the festivities was the naming of the Employee of the Year, won this year by Jake Cornelius. Overall 32 city employees were considered with 24 receiving votes. This figure was pared down to the top 13 with the top six being called forward and the number of votes they received given. In the end, Cornelius took the title for the second time during his tenure with the city.

Prescott Mayor Terry Oliver told the employees this was to be a time of fun, food, fellowship and fish, as the meal consisted of fish and the trimmings, along with several desserts. Oliver said DC, or Don Claus was tied up and couldn’t make it this year, but should be here in June.

The celebration, he said, is about family, with this being the city’s family. “I’ve been preaching the city family since 2011.”

Family, he said, is a group of people who want and choose to be together, who won’t leave anyone behind or let anyone be forgotten. “The city is a family of individuals. We’ve got each other’s back and put one another in our place. We’re the ones we listen to and who listen to us.” Oliver said he’s pushed this family to do its best since day one. The city’s employees, he continued, make his job easier and are appreciated by the public as he gets calls about their performance.
