Sign installed for Prairie D’Ane

PRESCOTT – A new sign designating the Prairie D’Ane Battlefield a historic site for Prescott and Nevada County was unveiled Tuesday afternoon.

Judy Duke, curator of the Nevada County Depot and Museum, Mary Godwin, executive director of the Prescott-Nevada County Economic Development Office, Paul Ridgell, a member of the museum’s board of directors, Prescott Mayor Terry Oliver and Nevada County Judge Mark Glass, were all on hand for the unveiling of the sign. The sign is near an entry point to the battlefield off Highway 19.

Duke said the sign is part of the grant agreement, which requires signage. This is another step toward the Prairie D’Ane Battlefield, and Elkins Ferry Battlefield, becoming tourist attractions for the region.
