ROSSTON – It didn’t take long for the Rosston City Council to approve a bid for the completion of the Laneburg Water Project Monday night.

Rosston Mayor Lewis Jackson told the council this would help finish the Laneburg project. Three bids were submitted, with Coakley Co., Inc., of Hot Springs the low bidder at $31,770. KJ Parker Construction of Palestine, AR, was next at $33,850, with the high bidder being RBIS, LLC of Texarkana with a bid of $69,470.

This should put a water line from the old Henry Grocery to near the old Laneburg school site and add several customers. The council approved the low bid unanimously.

Jackson said there’s still around $53,000 in the project budget, but there are engineering fees and other expenses to be paid from it. He added it will likely be spring before work begins.

The Rosston City Council will meet in regular session at 6:30- p.m. Monday, Feb. 12.
