Willisville Native And State Senator Speaks At UAHT

The UAHT Multicultural Club held their annual Black History program Thursday February 1st at Hempstead Hall. Special Guest was State Senator Joyce Elliot of Little Rock. Senator Elliot is a native of Nevada County and graduated from Willisville High School. She is serving her second term representing Senate District 31. Elliot earned an undergraduate degree from SAU in Magnolia and a graduate degree from Ouachita in Arkadelphia. During an interview before the program, Senator Elliot talked about the upcoming legislative fiscal session starting this month. The Senator said she thought the “Arkansas Works” Medicaid Expansion would be one of the top topics of debate. Senator Elliot said she wanted to leave the message to the young people in the audience that every generation has the responsibility to move ahead but in order to do that it was necurged the young people to not be stopped by small things or large things.
