PRESCOTT – Hot, muggy weather didn’t bother golfers playing in the annual Business and Industry Appreciation Golf Tournament at the Prescott Country Club Thursday.

Eight teams hit the links on a damp, foggy course, for the morning flight, while another 14 braved the heat in the afternoon. Prescott Mayor Terry Oliver got things started for both flights with shotgun starts. Once the shotgun was fired, golf clubs started swinging, with everyone on the course having fun. As most of the golfers said, a bad day on the course is better than a good day at work.

Lunch was provided by the Prescott-Nevada County Economic Development Office (EDO), with golfers coming off the links taking time to grab a ham and/or turkey sandwich, cookies and chips, and golfers arriving for the afternoon flight, taking time to fuel up. Once the tourney ended, and it was the longest in its history, lasting until after 6:30 p.m. before the last team cleared the course, it was time for dinner, with the meat provided by Lotta Bull, with the slaw provided by Izzy’s. Toward the end of dinner, it was time for door prizes.
