Mr. James “Jim” Self

Mr. James Thomas “Jim” Self, age 77 of Hope, Arkansas passed away Monday, February 6, 2017 at his home. Jim was born in Murfreesboro, Arkansas on December 29, 1939 to Clyde and Clara Williams Self. Mr. Self is a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hope. Jim is a Vietnam Veteran, a retired Master Sergeant serving in the US Air Force. He was also, a licensed auctioneer in Arkansas for over 40 years, a horse breeder and a former Mason in South Carolina.  Jim is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Helen Collier Self of Hope, two sons; Todd Self, wife, Regina of Prattville, Alabama, Jon Self and spouse, Glenn Russell of Washington, DC, two daughters; Jill Self of Hope and Karen “Beth” Deaton, husband, Jason of Edmond, OK, two sisters; Fayrene Clark of Huber Heights, OH and Karen Callicoat of Union, OH, three grandchildren; Madison Treherne, Zane A. Deaton and Ian James Deaton, other family members and friends.

Visitation for Mr. Self will be 6:00 to 8:00pm on Friday, February 10, 2017 at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest The Funeral Home of Hope 1001 S. Main Hope, AR.

Funeral service will be 2:00pm Saturday, February 11, 2017 at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest Funeral Home with Dr. Hal Dixon and Bro. Scott Neathery officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery with full military honors.
