Klipsch Museum

HOPE- The Klipsch Museum of Audio History is now open for tours. This 501c3 museum is located at 136 Hempstead 278 near the Oakhaven community. During your tour of the museum you will go back in time to the very beginning of great sound, with the dynamic sounds of music heard in living rooms around the nation during the 1940s. Jim Hunter, the museum curator and President gave a tour with incredible detail pertaining to the Klipschorn Speaker along with those who inspired Mr. Klipsch himself such as Thomas Edison.

Paul Wilbur Klipsch, an american pioneer was the man behind the creation. In what is referred to as the “tin shed” is now the building used as the museum, although the exterior has been covered by new siding. The tin shed is where Mr. Klipsch created the design of the famous Klipschorn Speaker.

Paul Klipsch was an American Pioneer, who created the worlds first loud speaker companies. During his lifetime he created 23 patents, along with being inducted into the Engineering and Science Hall of Fame in 1997.  He was later inducted into the Consumer Electronics Hall of Fame in 2004 two years after his passing. With over a thousands of documents and photographs located in the archives, they hope to have them available for the public to view in the near future.

The museum is open Wednesday-Friday from 10:00am until 2:00 pm or you can call and schedule an appointment. Admission is $3.00 for seniors, college students with ID, and children 12 and under. For those who are no under the criteria the cost will be $5.00.
