On July 27, at approximately 11:36 a.m., Deputy Landon Loe was dispatched to 350 Hempstead 248 in reference to a theft.

Upon arrival, Deputy Loe made contact with Henry Sanders who stated that his personal lockbox with $19,500 and multiple vehicle titles were stolen from his house something this morning. Sanders stated he had a black lockbox bought from Wal-Mart and contained $19,500 cash in $100 bills, a title for a 91 Ford van, 2001 Dodge pickup, a 2001 Ford F-150, a 56 Chevy Bel-Air, and several four-wheelers and side by sides.

This matter remains under investigation

Felony Warrant/Officer Assist

On July 27, Deputy Kyle Malone, was contacted by Detective Andrew Watson of the Hope Police Department regarding a felony warrant. Detective Watson requested Deputy Malone go to an unknown residence on Hempstead 56 later identified as 545 Hempstead 56, and arrest Jorge Gonzalez on a felony warrant.

Deputy Malone and Deputy Loe went to 545 Hempstead 56.   Deputy Malone knocked on the front door to the residence and announced himself. Jorge Gonzalez opened the front door. Deputy Malone took Gonzalez into custody for the felony warrant.

While searching Gonzalez incident to arrest Gonzalez stated he took approximately two to three handfull of Trazodone. Deputy Malone observed Gonzalez had multiple self-inflicted lacerations on both of his wrist. Deputy Malone contacted dispatch and advised them to have Pafford Emergency Medical Service come to the location.

Pafford EMS arrived on scene and cleared Gonzalez medically. Deputy Malone then transported him to the Hempstead County Detention Center where he was booked in jail of the City of Hope’s felony warrant.

Debit Card Fraud

On July 27, at approximately 10 a.m., Deputy Landon Loe was given a name and number by dispatch in reference to debit card fraud.

Deputy Loe made contact with Robert Deaton and he stated he had noticed a charge to his La Quinta Visa debit card backed by First Bank in the amount of $880 withdrawn from an ATM. Deaton stated he called and asked the bank how the charge appeared on his account and the bank stated someone had called from his phone number and requested to change the pin number.

Deaton stated he never authorized anyone to change the pin number on his card and didn’t really know who could have done it.

Civil Stand By

On July 27, at approximately 12:20 p.m., Deputy Landon Loe was dispatched to 401 South Main Street in Blevins in reference to a civil standby.

Upon arrival, Deputy Loe made contact with Mayani Baza who stated she wanted to get some of her belongings from Pedro Capetillo’s house with whom she lived with for a while. I advised her that if he was not at the residence, I could not allow her to take any property. I walked around the property and knocked on both the front and the back doors, but was unable to make contact with him. I advised her he was not home and she would have to find a different day to come back when he was here in order to gather her belongings. Mayani shestated that she understood.

Aggravated Assault

On July 27, at approximately 7:38 p.m., Deputy Kyle Malone was dispatched to 320 North Street in Washington, Arkansas regarding a man with a knife. Dispatch advised that the reporting party Leon Nelson advised them a man put a knife to his throat and said he was going to kill him. Leon advised dispatch he was going home to get his gun.

Upon arrival at the above-named address Deputy Malone made contact with Nelson. Nelson stated he was at his girlfriend’s house and her husband came into the residence. He said the husband pulled a knife on him and threatened to kill him.

Nelson stated Dennis Green put the knife to his throat and said that he was going to kill him, and then jumped in his truck and took off. Nelson stated Kimberly Green witnessed Dennis put the knife to his throat.  Deputy Malone was able to locate Green and retrieve a pocket knife with an approximately three-inch blade.

Deputy Malone placed Dennis Green under arrest for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Green was transported to the Hempstead County Detention Center. Dennis is now awaiting first appearance.

Residential Burglary

On July 26, at approximately 5:46 p.m., Deputy Kyle Malone was dispatched to a possible burglary in progress at 415 Hempstead 8.

Upon arrival, Deputy Malone made contact with Vickey Brooks. Brooks stated she had already been inside her residence. She stated she had not gone into the other two rooms of her residence.

Deputy Malone cleared those rooms on the north side of her residence, and found no one inside the residence. She stated she left for work this morning at approximately 6:50 a.m., and returned home at approximately 5:40 p.m. Brooks said she noticed an eyeliner stick on her front steps to her residence. She said she started in her residence and the door was ajar. Brooks stated she noticed her bedroom light was on. She said she walked to the kennel that was in her living room and let her dog out, and they both went outside.

Brooks stated she then called 911. Brooks said while waiting on a deputy to arrive she and her dog walked back into the residence and did not hear anything. She said she walked to her bedroom and saw her bathroom light was on. She stated she walked into her bathroom to see that her vanity had drawers open, and her jewelry cabinet was in the back of the bathroom by the tube had drawers open. Brooks stated all of her makeup was taken from a drawer inside her vanity. She said all of her costume jewelry and sterling silver were gone from her jewelry cabinet. She stated her entire jewelry cabinet was emptied. Brooks said she looked at her sink where her ring dish and square dish were located. She stated her ring dish was cleaned out and the square dish was gone.

The incident is under investigation.

Suicidal Person

On July 26, at approximately 4:39 p.m., Deputy Malone was dispatched to 490 Hempstead 54 in reference to a suicidal person.

Upon arrival, he made contact with the grandparents of an 18-year-old male, who stated he and his wife caught their grandson trying to steal money from the grandmother’s purse last night. The grandfather stated when they confronted the 18-year-old about it he “went kind of ballistic.” The grandfather said the 18-year-old then packed a bag and threatened to leave. The grandfather said his grandson has friends who come and pick him up in the middle of the night. The grandfather stated his grandson then threatened to kill himself. The grandson left the house and went for a long walk. The grandson came back to the residence and started “ranting and raving” saying he was going to kill himself.

Deputy Malone went inside the residence and made contact with the 18-year-old and asked him what was going on with him. He stated “I’m just tired of extra stuff like this.” “There’s something going on all the time. It just can’t be peaceful, I can’t live the way that I would like, I can’t think for myself.” The 18-year-old said he cannot explain how he feels to his grandparents. He said if he tells them how he feels about them they get hurt.

Deputy Malone asked the 18-year-old if he has been telling his grandparents that he wants to hurt himself. The 18-year-old stated “I mean yeah, that’s kind of how I feel sometimes.”

Deputy Malone contacted dispatch. And requested Pafford Emergency Medical Services to come to his location. Pafford EMS arrived on scene. The 18-year-old agreed to be treated by them. Pafford EMS transported the 18-year-old to Wadley Regional Medical Center in Hope to be evaluated.

Battery

On July 26, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Deputy Loe was dispatched to Highway 355 South in McNab in reference to a battery 3rd. Dispatch advised the woman on the line was hysterical, and her phone died prior to dispatch getting any personal information.

Upon arrival to the area, Deputy Loe was unable to locate a woman walking along the highway. Then, at approximately 6 a.m., he was dispatched to the intersection of Highway 67 West and Highway 234 in front of the old weight scales in reference to a woman who had supposedly been thrown from a vehicle.

Upon arrival, Deputy Loe made contact with the caller, Christie Davis, who stated she was headed home after work and noticed a white female on the side of the highway trying to flag her down. Davis stated she stopped and that’s when the victim, Jannie Williams, informed her someone she had just met, Billy Rowe, had pushed her from the vehicle. Davis stated that’s when she called the Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Loe thanked Davis for stopping and advised her she was free to leave.

Deputy Loe made contact with Williams, who stated she was hanging out with Rowe at his house in McNab when she was awoken by him trying to touch her. Williams stated she left his house trying to call someone to give her a ride before he jumped on her. Williams stated she started to walk away from his house when she attempted to call dispatch the first time, but her phone died before she could get any specific information to them.

Williams stated Rowe pulled up to her in his truck and forced her to get inside and once she did, headed towards Hope on Highway 67 West. Williams stated somewhere around the 3800 block of Highway 67 West, Rowe hit her in the face. She said she wasn’t sure if it was with an open hand or a closed fist, because her head was turned towards the window when he did it. She stated Rowe began to try and force her out of the vehicle while it was traveling at approximately 80 miles per hour and was telling her “jump out or I’ll run us into this bridge.” Williams stated at one point Rowe slowed down enough for her to jump from the vehicle without injuring herself. Williams stated Rowe continued on towards Hope.

Pafford arrived on scene and checked Williams’ vitals. The paramedic on board recommended she be transported to the hospital because some of her vital readings were not looking that good. Williams advised she had heart problems and had already taken one of her prescription nitroglycerin to ease her chest pain. She finally agreed to be transported to Wadley Regional Medical Center in Hope for further evaluation.

Williams advised she did not want to press any charges on Rowe and “God will get him.” Deputy Loe advised her without her filing charges, it may leave him free to do something similar in the future. She still refused to press any charges.
