Mr. Charles Harris

HOPE – Mr. Charles E. “Diddy Boot” Harris, was born on December 23, 1958, to the late Jack and Ella Harris. He departed this life on Tuesday, July 25, 2017.

“Diddy Boot” the nickname given to him by his parents and used very regularly by everyone who knew him, graduated from Hope High School in 1977. During his time in Hope, he worked for Meyers Bakery. He loved to hang out with special friends/classmates, who were very dear to him until his demise. In the late 80’s, early 90’s, he moved to Athens, Texas. In Texas, he worked a number of years as a supervisor with Phanta Boat Company, and later ended his career at Dallas Manufactures, where he worked until his health declined.

Charles enjoyed fishing, having sociable drinks with friends and family, and helping others despite his disability. Anything thrown his way was never too much and he never met a stranger, he loved everyone the same. He enjoyed watching all sports on tv and never missed his favorite, the Olympics.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James Harris; one sister, Armanda Hill; two brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law.

He leaves his memories to be cherished by his three daughters, LaTanya Brown, Quintina and Winfrey Harris all of Hope; seven beautiful grandchildren, Breanna Brown, Jamiah Armstrong, K’Aijah Harris, Kaiden Witherspoon, Kaison Witherspoon, Triniti Tremble and Ty’Aiden Fulton all of Hope; two sisters, Jacqueline Sims of Athens, TX and Armenda Ross of Hope; one brother, Lee Earnest Harris of Los Angeles, CA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:30 pm Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Lonoke Missionary Baptist Church in Hope. Mr. Harris will lie in state for one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Scott’s Memorial Gardens in Perrytown. Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
