Vira Flemons

Sister Vira Lee (Walker) Flemons, daughter of the late Charlie and Pearlie (Box) Walker was born March 10, 1926 in Rosston, AR. At an early age, she joined the Church of Christ and was a faithful and dedicated member until her death. Sis Flemons departed this life on July 29, 2017.
She was united in holy matrimony to Rufus C. Flemons, Sr on June 27, 1946. To this union, 10 children were born. Three children preceded her in death, Charles S. Flemons, Sr, Roland D. Flemons Sr, and Shelia A. Purifoy. Her husband, Rufus also preceded her in death.
Sis Flemons was a Nurse’s Aide in several of the local Nursing Homes in Prescott, AR for over 35 years. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers she loved so well, and her generosity will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.
Sis Flemons leaves to mourn her children: Doris (Roy) Marshall of Rockford, IL and Lane (Horace) Carter of San Antonio, TX; Rufus (Gail) Flemons of Woodbridge, VA, Jerry Flemons of Anna, TX, Joe (Toni) Flemons of Carrollton, TX, Tony (Yvonne) Flemons of Richardson, TX, Rodney (Sonji) Flemons of Hope, AR, and raised one Grandson, Charles S. Flemons, Jr of Prescott, AR; five sisters, Ruthie Perteete, Charlene Gray, Vernita Watkins, and Pearl Pinkney all of Rockford, IL and Lorene Baxter of St. Joe, MO. Two brothers, Nathaniel and Floyd Walker both of Rockford, IL. Twenty-eight grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 11am-5pm, wake 5-6pm Monday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 1pm Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Main Street Church of Christ in Prescott, AR. Interment will be at Laneburg Cemetery in Rosston. Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
