IDOL PRELIM

HOPE – Beginning at 6 p.m., the five finalists took the stage one by one singing their hearts to win the competition.

First to take the stage was Allison Garner from Amity. She was followed by Aubri Johnson, Brock TX, Brady Rhodes, Caney, Kendall Laughard, Prescott, and DeShala Golden from Kirby. Everyone was anxious to find out who the next Watermelon Idol winner would be.

Rhodes won the title with his song of choice Peace in the Valley. Coming in second was Laughard and third place winner was Golden. As Rhodes took the stage, those who had never heard him sing before were in awe as he started singing with a deep golden voice that rivals Scotty McCreary’s. He casually strolled across the stage singing as if he had been performing his entire life.

Much to everyone’s surprise he was brought back to the stage following Dillan Cate and this time he sang Long Black Train. The audience was again blown away with this young man’s talent. It was clear with his good looks and a smile that shows his charming dimples, he will be a much loved artist. Rhodes is a faithful Christian and has been singing at the Morris Baptist Church his entire life.
