Max aids in I-30 drug bust

PRESCOTT – On Sunday August 27, at approximately 6 P.M.  Deputy Justin Hughes observed a passenger vehicle traveling west on Interstate 30 near the 48-mile marker, traveling at a high rate of speed and was confirmed by radar as 105 MPH in a 70 MPH zone.

Deputy Hughes and K-9 Deputy Jeremy Hendrix attempted to stop the passenger vehicle but were unable to get the vehicle to pull over until near the 39-mile marker in Hempstead County.

Contact was made with the operator with K-9 Deputy Hendrix conducting a free air search of the vehicle with K-9 Deputy Max.

K-9 Deputy Max alerted on the vehicle and a search was conducted on the said vehicle finding approximately two kilos of what is believed to be heroin.

Driver 68-year-old Malek Arabpour and 30-year-old Milad Arabpour both from Toronto, Canada. were arrested and transported to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Detention facility. Both subjects are being held for first appearance for possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver. Heroin is listed as a schedule 1drug. Other charges are pending.
