Good time at premium sale

PRESCOTT – Everyone who attended the annual Nevada Count Fair Livestock Premium Sale had a good time.

The event began with dinner, which featured smoked pork roast and brisket, along with plenty of sides and desserts. Those who didn’t get enough to eat, didn’t try as there were leftovers of several desserts and the meat. The sides, though, vanished quickly.

Those bidding on livestock had fun checking out the competition and trying to decide whether or not to pull the trigger and bid another $10 on the animal in question. As Auctioneer Don Honea said, “It’s only $10.” The money goes to the children to help them pay to go to the Southwest Arkansas District Fair in Hope the week of Sept. 25, and possibly on to the state fair in Little Rock in mid-October. Rayleigh Hart was recognized as this was her last livestock show and sale. She was presented a silver bracelet by her 4H leader. Hart has been showing livestock at the fair for eight years.

The number of youngsters showing was down a bit from recent years, as there were 16 animals shown at the premium sale.
