Deadline for big buck contest nears

DEER1PRESCOTT – Deadline to enter the 2nd Annual Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Big Buck Contest is Nov. 10.

The contest runs from the morning of Nov. 11 until dark on Nov. 30. Bucks will be scored on three days only, Nov. 28-30, from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. behind the Prescott City Hall. Prescott Mayor Terry Oliver will score the bucks. Hunters are required to bring the rack, check-in number and the customer ID on their hunting license to be scored.

The deer can be harvested in either bow or modern gun season, but must be killed in Nevada County, Lafayette County, Columbia County, Ouachita, County, Clark County, Pike County or Hempstead County. Violation of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission laws will result in automatic disqualification.

Tiebreakers are as follows”: 1) inside spread; 2) on inch points; 3) total of both bases; and 4) total of both eye guards. The Chamber is not liable for any hunting accidents or any incident occurring during the contest dates. Deer must be killed in free range conditions only, any killed behind a high fence will not be eligible. The entry fee is $20 per person and hunters must be 16 or older to enter. The Chamber will keep 40 percent of the pot, with the winner receiving 60 percent of the entry fees.
