Lions auction goes well

PRESCOTT – There was a wide assortment of items for people to check out at the annual Prescott Lion’s Club Auction Thursday night.

While the Potlatch Building wasn’t packed, a good crowd was on hand for the event, with those attending looking for items they simply couldn’t live without, and there were plenty to choose from. Some of the items auctioned off, or to be auctioned off Saturday night, include: a smoker built by the welding class at the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope; rocking chair; pickup bed cover; bicycles; scooter, comforter sets; knives; cookware; shotgun shells; an alligator head; hams; and turkeys. Gift certificates were sold every 15-minutes. There were also three autographed football helmets, from the Prescott School District grid programs.

Most of the items presented went quickly as bidders apparently had set amounts they were willing to spend. Several things, primarily the hams, went for more than list price.

All funds raised from the auction will be used to pay for the club’s activities, which include scholarships and glasses for the needy.

The auction will resume at 6 p.m. Saturday. As it was pointed out during Thursday’s auction, this is a good way to get the holiday shopping started.
