SWAMPRIDERS 011PRESCOTT – This year, Santa’s helpers not only included his army of elves and eight tiny reindeer, but several area motorcycle clubs.

The clubs met at the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Saturday afternoon to drop off toys for area children. The toys will be distributed during Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 9. The parking lot behind the Bank of Delight was filled with Harleys as the bikers rode in enmasse. However, not all rode their bikes, some drove in pickups, vans and cars, but all came bearing gifts. The toys were lined up in the lot behind the Chamber office for a group picture.

This is an annual event for the groups, and has been for more than 20 years. This year, the groups raised more than $7,200 which was donated to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital, and overall, the groups have donated more than $76,000 to the ACH.

There were 47 bikes and assorted other vehicles and more than 100 club members on hand for Saturday’s event. Along with the toys, almost $100 in cash was donated to the Chamber to help area children this holiday season. Invitations were extended to have chili at the club, but some of the club members had events to attend elsewhere. One group headed to Texarkana for a veteran’s event. Santa arrived, dressed in his red and white gear, but also sporting a leather jacket as he rode up on his Harley.
