The largest Lions Club in the state of Arkansas is getting ready for its largest fundraiser. The 68th annual Hope Lions Club auction is set for November 30th, December 1st and 2nd in Hope’s Fair Park Coliseum. Hundreds, maybe thousands of items will be auctioned at the annual event which starts each evening at 6pm. The Lions have been canvassing area merchants in search of donations for the event. By the start of the auction the area around the stage at the coliseum will be filled with hundreds of items ranging from the famous “ham of meat” as the Lions call hams to handmade items, Christmas items, and everything you can imagine. If you can’t be there in person the auction will be carried live on 1490AM/KXAR s it has been since the beginning in 1950. Plans are also underway to stream the auction online this year as well.
The auction is as popular for its concession stand as it is for the bidding. The Hope Evening Lions will once again prepare plenty of homemade food such as chicken and dumpling, soups, and homemade desserts. The Evening Lions start serving before the auction and usually sell out of food even evening so come early to eat and stay late to bid.
Any merchant that hasn’t been contacted to donate to the auction can contact President Daulton Brewer at Secur Storage/First State Insurance at 722-2225 or Lion Nathan Gerth at Sears at 722-2000.
Make plans to attend a true Hope tradition, the 68th annual Hope Lions Club auction!
