Joy Katherine Young-Heard

Joy Katherine Young-Heard was born to the late Oscar and Agnes Young on September 15, 1931 in Rosston, Arkansas. This angel returned back to the Lord, Friday, December 30, 2017 at Hillcrest Care & Rehabilitation in Prescott, AR. Joy was married to the beloved Eddie B. Heard who preceded her in death on March 28, 2006. She was also preceded in death by one daughter; Marion Y. Heard, three grandchildren; Victor McGough, Ricardo Young, and Sherita Heard, one great–grandchild; Robert Y. Johnson and one great-great–grandchild; Faith N. Allen.  

 She was a faithful member of the New Bethel A.M.E. Church under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Larry Ross until her health failed her. She was a dedicated worker for Hillcrest Care and Rehabilitation in Prescott, AR for over 20 years. She also worked at Southwest Arkansas Development Council (SWADC) for many years until she retired.

 She leaves to cherish her memories seven children including 5 daughters; Joyce McGough of Waldo, AR, Loretta Evans, Joycesetta Evans, Barbara Heard, and Patricia Heard of Rosston, AR, 2 sons; Richard (Dexter) Young and Phillip Heard of Rosston, AR, 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, 3 nieces; Lavon (James) Harkins, Brenda Henry, and Carolyn (Jerry) Bishop, 1 nephew; James (Opal) Young, 1 brother-in-law; Otis Heard, 1 sister-in-law; Ruthie Malone, and a host of great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
