ELECTION7

PRESCOTT – Filing fees have been set for the May Preferential Party Primary by the Nevada County Democratic Central Committee.

This year all city and county offices are up for election. The filing period is Feb.22 through March 1. The only candidates required to pay a filing fee will be those in the Democratic party. There is no filing fee for GOP candidates, but they need to contact either Myrna Daniels or Janice Callicott to find out how to get on the ballot. Those running as Independents will need to get a minimum of 83 signatures from registered voters for countywide offices. For offices such as Prescott Alderman or Justice of the Peace, they will need to get 3 percent of those who voted in their district in the last election.

The filing fees are as follows: Nevada County Judge, Nevada County Sheriff and Prescott Mayor – $925; for Nevada County Clerk, Nevada County Treasurer, Nevada County Assessor and Circuit Clerk, the filing fee is $750; for JP, city alderman and city recorder the filing fee is $125; for county coroner, the fee is $100; and those running for constable on the Democratic ticket will have a $75 filing fee.

These fees are unchanged from the last election.
