Bohannon arrested on drug charges

HOPE – On Friday, March 23, 2018 at approximately 1930 hours, Officers of the 8th North Task Force went to the residence of Alan Bohannon to speak with him in reference to some narcotics activity, located at 3516 Highway 278 W, in Hempstead County.

Upon arrival Bohannon came to the door immediately and met officers outside. Officers advised him they were there because of information he was involved in the sale and distribution of narcotics.

Officers advised Bohannon they had a valid warrantless search waiver on file with probation and parole. He stated he knew that.

Officers began searching the residence. When they first entered the residence, they observed a spoon on the kitchen counter that contained suspected methamphetamine on it. A package of hypodermic syringes was found beside the spoon. There was also a soda bottle that was partially melted that had suspected methamphetamine inside it.

As the search continued officers located a clear plastic box containing several hypodermic syringes, two spoons with suspected methamphetamine on them, a small clear bag containing suspected methamphetamine residue in the top dresser drawer of his bedroom. Beside the bag was a very large amount of US currency broken down into 5, 10, 20, and 1-dollar bills.

While searching another dresser officers located a large amount of US currency in the top drawer and a cover for a digital scale, several empty clear bags containing methamphetamine residue in them along with very large amount of US currency, a package of hypodermic syringes commonly used for injecting narcotics into the body, and a glass pipe commonly used for consuming methamphetamine. Inside the pipe was a crystal-like substance suspected to be methamphetamine,

Officers located a clear bag containing suspected methamphetamine on a shelf in the living room, a short straw with suspected methamphetamine residue inside it, several small empty baggies that commonly used for packaging narcotics, a bag of 100 small empty bags commonly used for packaging narcotics on a shelf in the living room, inside of a bowl. These bags are the same ones the suspected methamphetamine was located in. There were also several syringes located inside of a dollhouse in the living room. Another package of syringes was located in the closet of the living room on the top shelf, underneath a blanket, several used syringes exposed inside the trash can. There was also a broken glass pipe commonly used for consuming methamphetamine inside the trash can. Officers observed inside another trash can 20 or more used syringes commonly used for injecting narcotics into the body. Several used syringes inside a bowl, in the cabinet of the kitchen.

Officers also discovered a safe at residence. The safe was seized and a warrant will be obtained to open it.

Bohannon was placed under arrest. During the search of his person, officers located $500 in US currency in his pants pocket.

The US currency totaled $4,504. and was seized along the other items discovered.

Bohannon was transported to the HCDF where he was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was turned over to the on-duty jail staff for booking process. He will be held for first court appearance.
