Cox, Jr. peacefully left this earth under the care of Hillcrest Nursing Facility, Prescott. George N. was born January 24, 1925 to George N. Cox, Sr. and Jewel Barham Cox. He lost his father when he was six years old, so he and his brothers had to take over the working of the cotton farm at an early age.  George N. was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Glendene Haynie and Hazel Powell, and two brothers; P.M. Cox and Barham Cox.

George N. is survived by his wife, partner and help mate of 54 years, Lajoy Cox of Prescott, two daughters, Gaywyn Cox Golden, husband, Gary and Lisa Cox Pennington, husband, Dale, four grandchildren, Gigi Golden Roberts, husband, Mike, Grant N. Golden, wife, Gina, Kyle Pennington, and Caley Pennington St. Claire, husband, Brody. (Uncle Charley) Cox.

George N. left the Redland Community to fight in the Philippines during World War II and was part of the Occupation Army in Japan. When he returned home, he never wanted to leave Redland for any length of time, again.

George N. built families new homes all over Southwest Arkansas, but what he enjoyed most was taking care of his cattle, which he did until his health caused him to quit when he was well into his eighties. George N. was an encourager, he positively affected people, but never realized how many people he helped take on the challenges of life with a simple word. George N. was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, having worshipped there his entire adult life. Paw Paw will be missed by us all, but we rejoice that God chose to restore his health.
