Louisa Marshall

IMG_1881Louisa Marshall life’s journey began March 13, 1929 in Blevins, AR when she was born the daughter of Fred McGill, Sr. and Bertha Carmon McGill. They preceded her in death as well as her husband, Louie Marshall; a son, Freddie Marshall; her siblings, Nathaniel McGill, Adaniel McGill, Hazel Burton, Lorene Patterson, Lemuel McGill, Vernice McGill, and Samuel “Sambo” McGill
Louisa received her early education in the Blevins Training School. She was a proud graduate of the Class of 1947. She became the bride of Louie V. Marshall October 18, 1947. They moved to Coffeyville, KS in 1950. Together they were blessed with seven children. They taught their children to respect others and to get an education and treat others as you would want to be treated. Their marriage lasted sixty years until his passing in 2007.
Louisa was active in the community. She served as a member of Golden Circle Chapter #31 Order of Eastern Star. She was a past Worthy Matron. She worked as a nurse’s assistant for twenty-five years before retiring from Coffeyville, Memorial Hospital. She was a former member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Coffeyville, KS where she loved to sing in the choir.
After the passing of her beloved husband, she relocated back to Arkansas in July 2007. She reunited back with her home church Greenhill African Methodist Episcopal Church where she was a faithful and supportive member.
She loved hard and cared for her family. Louisa loved to cook and gardening and she loved her plants and flowers. It is evident by the beautiful array of flowers and plants that adorn her home. Nestled in the peaceful county she enjoyed watching TV, especially the Young and Restless, Days of Our Lives, General Hospital and CSI shows. Her Saturday mornings were spent with her daughter, Anita listening to Gospel Music.
On Saturday, May 6, 2017 Louisa peacefully slept away in the arms of the Lord. Her passing ended a five generation of love, laughter and joy.

Memories made and memories shared will forever be etched in the hearts of her children, Lee (Gail) Marshall, Mt. Morris, MI, Shirley (Ray) Robinson of Flint MI, Gwendolyn Windom of Wichita, KS, William Marshall (Ruth Ann), Wichita, KS, Lemuel (Alicia) Marshall, Wichita, KS, Anita Marshall, Flint, MI now residing in Blevins, one sister, Sarah Hill; one brother, Fred (Ethel) McGill, Jr.; one sister-in-law, Gladine Wilson all of Blevins; her life was also blessed with twenty-three grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren she also leave a host nieces, and nephews whom were all special to her, we recognize Gennetta Yarbrough and Debra Armstrong who took care of our mother when we were not in town; she is also survived by a host of extended family and friends, special thanks to Dr. Joseph Saporito and Texarkana Cardiology Associates.
A celebration of her life will be held 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Greenhill African Methodist Church, Prescott, AR with Pastor Margie Williams Officiating. Visitation will began one hour prior to the service.
She will be laid to rest Tuesday, May 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM beside her husband in Penwell Gabel Restlawn Cemetery, Coffeyville, KS.
