Local Girls Compete for Miss Arkansas 2017

HOPE- With only a few days away, two Hempstead County residents will be competing for the title of Miss Arkansas 2017. The pageant will be celebrating its 80th anniversary in its new location the, Robinson Auditorium in Little Rock. Both ladies have put forth hard work and dedication not only in personal aspects but with their platforms as well.

Suzie Gresham, Miss Southwest Arkansas, has traveled to schools, businesses, and has been on KATV teaching others to save lives, through the Heimlich, CPR and first aid training. Suzie also partnered with the American Cancer Society, and hosted a Miss Relay for Life Fundraiser pageant to raise money to finding a cure for cancer.

Brooke Cornelius, Miss Greater Little Rock, has traveled to schools teaching students how they can work together to stop bullying. She also traveled to the capital, were Lt. Governor Tim Griffin, presented a proclamation created by Brooke to declare October 2016 as Bullying Prevention Month for the state of Arkansas.

Saturday June, 10, they will travel to Little Rock to partake in the autograph signing at the Capital Rotunda from 4:00-5:00pm. Both ladies will have personal interviews on Sunday, June 11. The pageant will start its preliminary rounds June 13, with the crowning of the new Miss Arkansas will be on Saturday, June 17.

Suzie Gresham, Miss Southwest Arkansas, will be competing in the Alpha group as contestant number 22. Suzie’s platform is First Aid First: Don’t Wait-Initiate!

Tuesday, June 13th evening gown and on stage question
Wednesday, June 14th,Talent jazz dance to “Women’s World”
Thursday, June 15th Lifestyle and Fitness

Brooke Cornelius, Miss Greater Little Rock,will be competing in the MU group as contest number 5. Brooke’s platform is “Protect Our Youth: Bullying Is Not Ok!”

Tuesday, June 13th Talent is Tap Dance to “Sandstorm”
Wednesday, June 14th Lifestyle and fitness
Thursday, June 15th evening gown and on stage question
