HOPE – A standing room only crowd filled the Hope City Board Room Tuesday June 13th, as the City held a public hearing to determine possible uses for an outdoor recreation grant.

Shelley Morehead of Southwest Arkansas Planning and Development was on hand to explain the grant that Hope plans to apply for. The grant would be a 50/50 grant, meaning the City would have to provide up to 50% of the finding. At least some of this could be “in kind” services.

It has been assumed that the City will seek funds for a Farmers Market pavilion to be constructed on the former Graves property at 2nd and Elm Streets, downtown.

Comments included suggestions for improvements to both Fair Park and Northside Parks, consideration of a “splash” park and possible amenities to the suggested Farmers Market pavilion.image
