Possession with Purpose to Deliver, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Expired Vehicle Tags.
On June 14, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Deputy Brown observed a 2009 white Chevrolet Silverado bearing paper tags commit the traffic violation of Expired Tags, in violation of Arkansas code 27-14-304, and No Registration Plate Light, in violation of Arkansas code 27-36-215, in Hope, Hempstead County, Arkansas.
Deputy Brown activated his emergency equipment and conducted a traffic stop on the above vehicle. he made contact with the driver of the vehicle and identified him as Brandon Hall.
Deputy Brown advised Hall the paper tags on the vehicle expired May 30. While speaking with Hall Deputy Brown smelled a very strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Deputy Brown advised Hall he could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle and if there was anything illegal inside. Hall stated he just got finished smoking marijuana and there was nothing else inside the vehicle. Hall also advised he did not need any trouble, that he was just released from prison not long ago and was on parole.
Deputy Brown opened the driver’s side door to the vehicle and immediately noticed a digital scale commonly used for weighing narcotics sitting in the pocket of the driver’s door. He noticed the scale had crystal like residue on the top believed to be methamphetamine. Beside the scale in the driver’s door was a blue pouch with a zipper on it. he opened the pouch and located a glass pipe commonly used for smoking methamphetamine.
Hall was placed under arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia. Brown located a silver metal container with a screw on lid attached to the key chain, in the metal container he discovered a clear bag containing crystal rock like substance believed to be methamphetamine. In the same metal container, he also located a clear bag containing off white rock like substance believed to be crack cocaine.
Hall was transported to the HCDF where he was charged with Possession with Purpose to Deliver, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Expired Vehicle Tags. He was turned over to the on-duty jail staff for processing.
Suspicious Person.
On June 14, at approximately 12:10 a.m., Deputy Malone was dispatched to 3174 Highway 174 South in reference to a suspicious person.
Upon arrival, He made contact with the caller, who stated his son saw a vehicle pull up across the Highway from their residence with its lights off. He stated his son saw a person get out of the vehicle and walk onto their property. Caller said his son then lost sight of the subject. Caller stated he and his family stayed up, and did not hear any noises or see anyone else.
The son stated he saw a Tahoe type vehicle coming from the direction of Springhill, and stopped between his residence and his next-door neighbor’s residence. he stated the vehicle had its lights off. He said he saw the passenger door open on the vehicle, and someone exited the vehicle. he stated the driver of the vehicle kept driving down Highway 174 South. He said he saw the subject walk down into the ditch and then walk within 20 yards of Todd’s truck. The son stated he was having a hard time seeing the subject because he was having to look through a bush. He said he could not tell whether or not the subject walked between the houses, or walked away. He stated he did not see the subject after that.
Battery 3rd Degree
On June 14, at approximately 12:15 a.m., Deputy Brown received a call from the police dispatcher regarding a verbal altercation that was taking place, located at 726 Hempstead 32, in Nashville, Hempstead County.
Upon arrival he made contact with Cindy Mashburn who stated her daughters, boyfriend, and she were having an argument over the boyfriend being at the residence. Mashburn stated the residence they were at was both Mashburn and her daughters,
Mashburn stated she did not want the boyfriend there because he was abusive and on drugs. She states she has had several problems with him over the past year. Mashburn stated he was trying to stay the night at the residence and she did not want him there. The boyfriend and Mashburn got into an argument over him being there. He got up and yelled at her, and grabbed her by the right forearm and took her phone, so she could not call the police. He broke the phone and he and he daughter left the residence. Mashburn stated the boyfriend lives at a residence in Nashville, Arkansas and her daughter usually stays with him at his residence.
Mashburn showed me where he grabbed her by the arm, but Deputy Brown could not see any redness or bruising. Deputy Brown observed there were no visible injuries to Cindy at this time.
Civil Dispute
Child Custody
On June 13, at approximately 5 p.m., Deputy Brown received a call from the police dispatcher regarding a civil dispute over a child custody matter, located at 312 S. Washington St, in Hope, Hempstead County.
Upon arrival, he met with a female who stated she was wanting to get her two children from their father, Deputy Brown explained the proper procedure and advised the female the Sheriff’s Office would have to have a Court Order in order to remove the children.
The female stated she would contact an attorney
Suicidal Person
On June 13, at approximately 2:50 p.m., Deputy McBride was dispatched to 111 Church Street in reference to a suicidal person. While in route, dispatch advised that the subject, stated he was going to hang himself.
Upon arrival, Deputy Mc Bride spoke with a Hispanic male, who stated he felt like harming himself and wanted help. Pafford Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene and transported him to Wadley Hospital in Hope.
