MUSEUM FENCE 016PRESCOTT – There’s a nice, new wooden fence enclosing the caboose at the Nevada County Depot Museum.

The Prescott Rotary Club obtained a grant to get the fence built. Initially, the club wanted to have a wrought iron fence built, but it proved to be too expensive for the club’s budget. Instead, the Rotarians went with a treated wood fence that members will stain. The grant came from the Rotary District Foundation and was for $2,000.

The club also got a grant to have the caboose painted, but the job was done before the grant money was in hand. Members of the club said this was done to help the community. Steps will be added behind the fence to make it easier to step off the platform and get to the caboose. After the dedication was done Thursday, several members took a quick tour of the caboose.
