The Hope High School Band sold 420 tickets to its Taco Block Party fundraiser Thursday afternoon.
The band sold meals of two tacos, rice, beans and drink for $5 each at the BancorpSouth main bank with a drive-through available also.
The HHS Jazz Cats provided entertainment during the fundraiser.
According to Jennifer Methvin with the Music Parents Association, more than $5,000 was raised including donations and sponsorships for the event. She says the band and Music Parents are grateful for the several in-kind donations, sponsors and supporters. She also wants to thank Amigo Juan’s Mexican Cafe and BancorpSouth for sponsoring the event.
The HHS Band is working to raise $60,000 needed to march in the Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C. on May 27, 2013.
Any individuals or businesses that would like to support or sponsor the band in their trip to Washington, D.C. should contact Methvin at methvin.jennifer@gmail.com, or call 870-703-0459.
