Benjamin-Owen_smBenjamin P. Owen, 77, formerly of Hope died Feb. 5, 2013, in Fayetteville, Ark.

Major Owen was born Oct. 11, 1935, in Ruston, La. He was retired from Army where he was a decorated Vietnam War veteran, a cattleman, and president of Trail Association, Fifty-Six, Ark.

Survivors include three children, Raven Owen of Bee Branch, Ark., Laurie Owen of Goshen, Ark., and Gary Owen of Heber Springs, Ark.; one brother, James Owen of Gassville, Ark.; two sisters, Betty Rowe of Kingman, Ariz., and Judith Ann Hipp of Cabot, Ark.; one half-sister, Sherry Lee McKnight of Harrison, Ark.; his stepmother, Frances McKnight of Mountain Home, Ark.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Graveside services with full military honors will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with Stan Parris officiating. Burial will be under direction of Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Humane Society of the Ozarks, Fayetteville, Ark.; or a favorite charity.
