Betty Ruth Schenck

1891019Betty Ruth Schenck passed away December 31, 2012 in Fort Worth, Texas with her family by her side. Betty was born in Hope, Arkansas on July 28, 1947 to Brack R. and Mary Elizabeth King Schenck.

Betty received her B.A. in German from the University of Arkansas and followed with a Masters in Political Science and a Masters in Telecommunication as well as multiple certifications in computer programming. Her career included working for the State of Arkansas during which time she was appointed the agency’s first Director of Student Loans. As a freelance scriptwriter and producer Betty was instrumental in creating several documentaries including “One Step at a Time” for the American Amputee Foundation. She spent the remainder of her career as a computer programmer/analyst and systems engineer for U. S. Life Systems Corporation in Dallas, TX.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her sister and her husband Sarah and David Ruffin of Fort Worth, TX, one niece Dr. Mary Alice Younger of New Orleans, La and one nephew and his wife John Scott and Brandy Wafer of Fort Worth, TX.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 3, 2013 between the hours of 4-6 pm at Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home.

Her service will be held at Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home Chapel in Hope on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 10:00 am, interment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery under the direction of Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home.

Her family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be sent to the American Diabetes Association.
