Breakfast with Santa packed

PRESCOTT – People were lined up at the Potlatch Building Saturday morning for the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Breakfast with Santa.

Some tried to get in early, only to be reminded of the start time. Once the doors opened, the crowd flooded in, heading to the different stations. Four of the most popular were Bingo, cookie decorating, pictures with Santa and the snowball toss. Holcim provided 150 bags of breakfast for the children. As things settled down, and the room filled up, children visited the other stations where they made reindeer food for Santa’s reindeer, wrote and mailed letters to Santa, made jingle bell necklaces, got temporary tattoos and colored bags.

After the initial rush, things slowed down, but people trickled in throughout the morning.

This year’s snowball toss changed from bean bags to whiffle balls, which proved to be irresistible to many of the boys in the crowd who repeatedly threw the balls trying to get them through the holes in Frosty’s belly. Most tended to throw too hard and didn’t have the control needed for accuracy.

By 10 a.m. there were no more breakfasts left, and Bingo was pretty much out of prizes. Shortly after 10, the cookie decorating station was down to less than half a box. However, the line for pictures with Santa stayed packed from start to finish. Pictures were done by Lzy Photo and God’s Gift Photo.

Patrons were asked to bring canned goods as the price of admission. All donations were taken to the local food bank to help the needy during the holiday season. This year, several hundred cans were donated at the event.
