Christmas will be a little brighter for a couple of children in the Prescott area thanks to the Prescott Police Department. Police Chief Brian Russell and his officers pitched in to purchase bicycles for two children dealing with illnesses this Christmas.
Tyler Marshall, 12, is coping with cystic fibrosis. Tyler is the granddaughter of “Mama” Maxine Milner and had her bike stolen earlier this year. She was all smiles Thursday morning as Chief Russell presented her with a brand new bike.
C.J. Beck is six years old and underwent a kidney transplant just five weeks ago. C.J. and his parents, Jessica and Brent Beck, take great care to protect against infection and rejection of the donated kidney. Jessica says C.J. is doing much better now having put weight back on after regaining his appetite.
C.J. gave Chief Russell a high-five and a big hug before starting to ride his new bike inside his house.
The Prescott Police Department also presented clothes, coats and toys to other local children this Christmas.
All of the gifts, including the bicycles, were purchased with money donated by the officers in the department.
