On Monday, November 10th the Juniors and Seniors at Garrett Memorial Christian School in Hope went to Fort Worth, Texas to see the Dead Sea Scrolls at the Southwestern Theological Seminary.
The Dead Sea Scrolls were found by a shepherd boy in the 1940′s in a number of caves near Qumran, a small town in Israel on the outskirts of the Dead Sea. They date back to before the birth of Christ. The scrolls, which were preserved in urns, contained almost all of the Old Testament Scriptures. The Dead Sea Scrolls were translated into English and proved that there was practically no error between them and our Bible today.
Afterwards, the exhibit had an archeology dig that the classes were able to take part in. The students were allowed to dig and keep whatever they found.
Following the dig the students went to Dallas to volunteer at the World Vision nationwide organization.
