Georiga Pacific Donation for Vests and Plates

HOPE – Georgia Pacific donated $5,000 to the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office recently to purchase armor plated vests for the deputies.

According to a release from the HCSO, Andrea Hale, charitable contribution coordinator for GP, and Pam Gibbs, GP human resource director, made the donation to Hempstead County Sheriff James Singleton. The HCSO has purchased 25 of these vests at a cost of $8,000. Singleton said GP’s donation made it possible to buy them.

The vests weigh about 40 pound each, with all the gear and plating attached. They are designed to put rifle resistant armor inside the front and back of each vest and be worn over soft body armor for added protection against high powered rifles.

Singleton thanked GP for its donation and support to the HCSO and its deputies.
