HOPE – Deputies with the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), investigated a third degree domestic battery Tuesday around 8:45 p.m.

According to a release from the HCSO, two deputies were sent to a residence on Hempstead 21. Before arriving, they were told the suspects had fled in a gray Toyota pickup heading towards Hwy. 278 West. When they got to the house, the caller said his 14-year-old grandson and 16-year-old granddaughter, had attacked a 39-year-old man and an 18-year-old female.

Deputies talked with the female victim, who reportedly had injuries on the left side of her face and abrasions on her neck. She told deputies the other two teens had the man on the ground and were hitting him when she tried to pull them off. When she did this, the report states, the boy attacked her.

According to the report, the two got into the truck and left. Sgt. Jerry Bush and an officer with the Hope Police Department found the two teens, who were arrested for domestic battery third degree and taken to the Hempstead County Detention Facility where they were booked.

A juvenile intake officer was contacted as the two were minors. She reportedly told deputies to detain the two overnight until their first appearance the next morning. However, the jail had no place for the girl, who was released to her mother.
