A Hope man has been charged with False Imprisonment 1st Degree after allegedly threatening a woman with a knife and holding her against her will.
The Hope Police Department says Devonte Barker, 22, of Hope was arrested Monday following an altercation between him and Sharlotte Carrigan, 28, of Hope at a residence on North Elm Street.
Carrigan told police that Barker threatened her with a knife and then wouldn’t let her leave the residence without him. Carrigan says she went with Barker to a local business soon after the altercation and tried to call police.
A verbal altercation reportedly occurred at the business and Barker left the area. He later turned himself in at the Hope Police Department.
