Hope Sonic Drive In Robbed Wednesday Night

HOPE – On Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at 10:15pm, Hope Police Department officers responded to the Sonic Drive In located in the 100 block of South Hervey in Hope, in reference to an aggravated robbery.

Upon arrival, officers learned that two unknown black males armed with handguns entered Sonic through the back door. Once inside, subject number one, described as wearing tan Carhart-type coveralls with a black hoodie, pointed a handgun at employees and demanded money. The second suspect, who was wearing a black hoodie and dark-colored pants, gathered other employees and instructed them to get on the ground while pointing a handgun at them. The suspects retrieved an undetermined amount of cash and other items from a drawer, then ran out through the front doors of the business, and got into an unknown light colored vehicle. The vehicle was driven by a third black male suspect. The three left the area traveling north on Hervey Street.

Earlier the the same evening, at approximately 9:45pm, Texarkana, Arkansas police responded to a 911 call of a robbery at Pizza Hut in the 3700 block of North State Line Avenue.

The investigation revealed two unknown suspects entered the business and forced all occupants at gunpoint into a walk-in freezer. Then the suspects ordered an employee to give them money from the register. During the incident, the employee was struck several times by the suspects, before fleeing the property with an undisclosed amount of cash. One suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’8″ tall, hazel eyes, wearing a tan Carhart jumpsuit. The second suspect is described as a black male, 5’9″, wearing a black Under Armor hoodie and black baggy pants.

The victim was transported by LifeNet to St. Michael’s Hospital in Texarkana for medical attention.

Both incidents, at this time, are believed to be related.
