PRESCOTT – City and county first responders were treated to a fish dinner Thursday at the Potlatch Building at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.

The event was sponsored by the Prescott Lions Club, with the Hope Lions Club doing the cooking. The Lions holds a fish dinner for first responders annually as a way to show appreciation for what they do and as a way of saying thanks for their service to the people of Prescott and Nevada County.

The cooking started around 5:30 p.m., with  people lining up to eat by 6:30 p.m. The crowd was smaller than usual.

Penny Lynch, president of the club, said those who’ve been lost will never be forgotten. She pointed out Bill Hubbard, who died from complications due to COVID-19, saying his son, Jeremy is back and working. She added Robert Missey will also always be remembered. James Overton was also remembered during the event.

Those present enjoyed catfish, hamburgers, fries and drinks. The club cooked 60 lbs. of catfish, 8-10 boxes of fries and five bags of hush puppies
