Luella Edwards

As the sun rose, flowers bloomed on Saturday, January 14, 2017. God came to the garden and chose a beautiful flower, Mother Luella Edwards, to add to His heavenly bouquet.
Luella (Mother) Edwards was born August 22, 1921 to Grant Brooks and Sally Mack who preceded her in death. During her lifetime she was married to Booker T. Edwards who preceded her in death. She attended Yerger High School and went on to work at Hope Public School as a cook and later on worked at Hudson Foods where she retired in 1989. She joined church at an early age and later in life joined Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ Church under the leadership of Elder O. N. Dennis where she was a member for over 55 years until her passing.
Luella (Mother) Edwards was a member of the Grand Chapter Order of Eastern Star for many years.
She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Bettye Mays of Chicago, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Ronald Mays who preceded her in death, Sheila, Shelita, Tamica, Marquis, Valora Mays of Chicago and Tyrone Mays of Texarkana, Texas; fourteen great-grandchildren and thirteen great-great-grandchildren. She had three brothers, Jack, Dorsey and Joe to precede her in death and also two sisters, Elnora and Rosie. She leaves one sister to cherish her memories, Ardella Banks of Leesbury, Florida; a special Godson from birth, Dale Walker; and a special great-grandson, Jocquell Mays; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be 11am-12pm Saturday, January 21 at the funeral home.  Funeral services will be 2:30pm Sunday, January 22 at Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ in Hope.  Burial will be at Cave Hill Cemetery in Hope.  Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
