Man charged with striking juvenile girlfriend

Thomas Edward Jordan

A Hempstead County man was arrested over the weekend after allegedly assaulting his juvenile girlfriend.

Deputies were dispatched to Medical Park Hospital Saturday around 1:15 a.m. in reference to domestic disturbance that had already occurred.

The victim, a 16-year-old female, told deputies that her 20-year-old boyfriend, Thomas Jordan, had punched her in the stomach after she cut a cellular phone charger cord that she says he threatened to hang himself with.

The 16-year-old victim told deputies that she had been in a verbal argument with Thomas when he threatened to hang himself with the cellular phone charging cord. She said she cut the cord with a pair of scissors and Thomas struck her causing her to spit up blood after being punched.

The victim said that she had been holding her child at the time and that she turned so that the strike would hit her side.

The girl then called her uncle to come and pick her up and was taken to Medical Park Hospital for evaluation.

Deputy Freddie Parks made contact with Thomas Jordan at a residence on Hempstead County 141. Thomas told Deputy Parks that nothing had happened. Jordan said that he had been dating the 16-year-old. He said they had argued and that he was depressed.

During the investigation Deputy Parks was advised that Thomas was wanted in Nevada County as well as the City of Hope on Failure to Appear warrants. Deputy Parks took Thomas into custody on the warrants and transported him to the Hempstead County Detention Facility for further investigation.

Thomas Jordan was charged with Domestic Battery 3rd Degree. He was awaiting a first court appearance on the battery charge and extradition to Nevada County to face charges there.
