Marijuana by mail has led to the arrest of a Hope man. Hempstead County Sheriff James Singleton says Prince Demongo Thomas, 32, of 1305 Peach Street, was arrested Friday, March 8th after US Postal inspectors intercepted a package containing 15 pounds of marijuana addressed to Thomas. His arrest occurred when Hempstead County deputies, South Central Drug Task Force agents, Homeland Security agents and officer of the Hope Police Department conducted a controlled delivery to the address. The sheriff says a search warrant turned up another half pound of marijuana inside the residence.

Sheriff Singleton also reports that information gained during the search led deputies to obtain another search warrant for a residence in the Washington area, but no arrests or seizures were made there.

Thomas was taken to the Hempstead County Detention Center and booked on Possession of a Schedule VI Controlled Substance(marijuana) with the purpose to deliver. He was awaiting a first court appearance.
