Mr. Dossie (D.L) Lee Blanchett, Jr.

Mr. Dossie (D.L) Lee Blanchett, Jr. was born October 28, 1941 in Wynne, Arkansas to Fannie Green Blanchett and Dossie Lee Blanchett, Sr., both of whom preceded him in death. 
He accepted Christ at an early age and united with the family’s home church, St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church of Cross County, Arkansas.  In 1960, he graduated from Lincoln High School in Forrest City, Arkansas.  After graduation, he began to work and married Glovia Thompson-Blanchett, to this union five children were born.
He loved football; the Denver Broncos was his favorite team.  He could tell you anything you wanted to know about football.  During his spare time, before his health failed, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, grocery shopping and cooking.  He always thought he was the greatest cook around.
Dossie was a very hard and dependable worker.  While working construction, his job brought him to Hope, Arkansas.  In Hope, he met Carnell (Laura) Muldrew.  They cherished many sweet memories and their love grew to include four sons, Larry, Randy, Lawrence, Damon; four daughters, Wanda, twins; Sharon and Shannon, and Veronica.
On November 18, 1971, he began working at Firestone Building Products in Prescott, Arkansas.  After 35 years at Firestone, he retired June 22, 2007.  To many of his co-workers, he was known as the man who could cook.
Dossie (D.L) Jr. was preceded in death by two of his children, Ronnie Blanchett and Gina Blanchett-Lloyd; two brothers, Jody Blanchett and George E. Blanchett; one sister, Ethel Blanchett-Brinker; and one brother-in-law, Jesse Bell.  He departed this life on April 11, 2017 peacefully with family by his side at a Texarkana, Texas hospital.   
Left to cherish his memories are his children, Michael (Stephanie) Blanchett, Gerard Blanchett, Darryl Thomas, Lana Blanchett (Russell) Massey, Larry Muldrew, Randy (Chrinda) Blanchett, Wanda Blanchett (Eric) Ware, Lawrence Blanchett, twins, Sharon Blanchett (Stacy) Johnson, Shannon Blanchett (Jack) Hussey, Damon Blanchett, Veronica Blanchett-Bradley; siblings, Artis (Mary) Blanchett, Patrie Blanchett (James) King, Dorothy Blanchett Bell, Dr. Larry J. Blanchett-Hudson, Rev. Clifton Blanchett, Dr. Wanda J. Blanchett, and Angie Clingmon (John) Reed; 28 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren;  and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be 11am-5pm, family hour 5-6pm Friday, April 21 at the funeral home.  Funeral services will be 11am Saturday, April 22 at Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 3576 Highway 278 West, Hope.  Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
