A Nashville woman was injured in a one-vehicle accident in north Hempstead County Sunday morning when she allegedly fell asleep at the wheel.
Amanda Morales was driving north on Highway 278 about four miles south of Nashville around 7:30 a.m. in her Hyundai Santa Fe when a witness says she crossed the center line and ran off the road after dozing off. The woman’s car struck a large tree with a glancing blow before crashing head-0n into another large tree.
Morales, who was alone in the car, was transported by Howard County Ambulance Service to Howard County Memorial Hospital in Nashville. An ambulance from Pafford EMS and first responders from the Bingen Volunteer Fire Department were also called to the scene.
Bypass Towing of Nashville removed the vehicle.
