PRESCOTT – There was a slight change of power for Leadership Nevada County Wednesday during the organization’s annual meeting.

A new board of directors was selected, though the new board differed only slightly from the old board. The outgoing members were Barbara Brown, Jane Purtle, Brent Talley, Essense Jordan and Naomi Butler. The new members included Brown, Purtle, Jordan, Butler with Judy Duke being the newest addition. The president and vice president of the group remained the same with Perry Nelson president and Faith Beavert, vice president.

The Class of 2017 held its retreat last week at Rick Evans Grandview Prairie Plantation. Tammie Ward, moderator for the meeting, said the group seemed to bond quickly. The weather for the retreat, she added, was good and the new members all gave positive evaluations for it. She added they also left with some good ideas for their group projects.

Peggy Lloyd, a member of the board, said she’s working with the Nevada County Depot Museum to get a grant for a World War I display. The museum will be notified in March as to the grant’s status. Should it be approved, Lloyd said four banners will be obtained and have the name of every person in Nevada County who served in WWI.

She asked for pictures to go with what will be a mobile display as it will be taken to different communities in the county. She especially is interested in any photos of any African Americans from Nevada County who may have served in WWI. Any pictures brought to the museum, she said, will be scanned in and returned to their owners.
