A teenager and a mother with her two children were involved in a two vehicle collision in Hope Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 3:30 p.m. Daniel Corbett, 16, of Hope, was travelling north on South Main Street in a Chevy El Camino when a black Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Criselda Cortez of Hope apparently pulled out in front of him from East 9th Street.
According to a witness who was waiting at the stop sign behind Cortez, a Rainbow of Challenges van was stopped in the right northbound lane of Main waiting to make a right turn on to 9th. The witness says Cortez pulled out in front of Corbett, who was obstructed from view by the bus. Corbett’s car crashed in to the driver’s side of Cortez’s SUV sending it up on the curb and crashing into a fire hydrant.
The people in both vehicles were checked out by Pafford EMS. Cortez and her children were uninjured. Corbett was taken to a local doctor’s office by his father.
The fire hydrant was pushed sideways but didn’t appear to be leaking. Hope Water and Light was called to inspect it.
