Playoffs start Friday night; Prescott hosts Mountain View

PRESCOTT – Friday night, Nov. 9 starts high school football’s “second season”, also known as the playoffs.

It’s win or go home from here on out for the teams vying for the state title. Smackover and Glen Rose both have first round byes, and will be the home team as long as they win.

Smackover,in the upper left of the bracket will face the winner of the Danville-Yelleville Summit game on Nov.16. Osceola will host Fouke Friday night and Melbourne travels to Mansfield.

In the lower portion of the bracket’s left side, Hoxie heads to Rison, Pine Bluff Dollarway goes to Mayflower, Atkins in on the road to Lamar and Greenland will visit Harding Academy.

On the right side of the bracket, Glen Rose gets the week off, but will face the winner of the Harmony Grove- Benton contest. Booneville will entertain Baptist Prep, while Lakeside heads to Walnut Ridge.

The Clinton-Charleston game heads the lower section of the bracket’s right side, followed by Prescott entertaining Mountain View. Barring major upsets, the second week of post season will see Prescott heading to Clinton. Clinton is 10-0 on the year, while Charleston is 6-4. The Wolves, 9-1, should have no trouble with Mtn. View, 2-7. The other games see Centerpoint traveling to Newport and McGehee hosting Piggott.
